Hj Mohd Abduh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Salam, acting permanent secretary at Ministry of Religious Affairs stated this during the launching of the Temburong District Office and the 22 Village Consultative Council blogs which will be used to promote Temburong District.

The District Office website is part of the ministry's e-government effort, while the Hogs act as a medium to promote local economic projects and products.

Information technology (IT) is a tool that can be used to strengthen and improve service delivery of government agencies, the guest of honour said.

However, he stressed that its usage must be prudent-continuously monitored and controlled. "The use of IT can be use to channel information faster to the public as well as officers and staff in performing their duties," he pointed out.

Hj Mohd Abduh reiterated the importance of constantly upgrading one's knowledge and dedication to work, and to keep the public expectation in mind.

"It is important to combine these factors together so that information technology can be widely used inline with the District Office's efforts to produce the best range of services."

He added that these projects also signified the commitment of the District Office to the community.

He said as the leading agency in the district, the efforts by the District Office should be made as a model by other government agencies.

The event also saw the launching of a 40-page guidebook on Temburong District The guidebook is divided into four sections which comprise Temburong's economic projects, lists of guest house and homestays, services available as well as the green jewel's tourist spots.

The book was first published in 2008. In this second publication, the book offers comprehensive information on what each mukim and village has to offer as well as their continuous effort to disseminate the information as a whole.
