A $2.7 MILLION contract aimed to provide IT equipment to all government medical facilities was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Health, Berakas.

The Leasing of Personal Computers and Peripherals Agreement entails the distribution of 1,380 units of IT equipment by Komputer Wisman Sdn Bhd to all government hospitals, health centres, clinics, treatment centres and health related offices.

The three-year lease with the computer supplies company also includes comprehensive maintenance services.

The agreement is another project with the ministry's e-Health programme, a nationwide e-Government initiative.

The implementation of local area network (LAN) infrastructure at 52 Health Ministry sites last January signalled the first phase in a series of projects under the e-Health programme.

The LAN infrastructure is set and ready to be used, according to a Health Ministry official.

Other upcoming projects also include the Complete Healthcare Management Information System where the ministry will bring about a new system that is specifically catered to patient care.

Signing the contract on behalf of the Ministry of Health was the Permanent Secretary, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Serbini Hj Ali, while Komputer Wisman Sdn Bhd was represented by its Managing Director, Awg Hj Sulaiman Hj Ahai.

Present to witness the signing were Dr Hj Sablee Hj Aspar, the Director of Healthcare Technology Department at the Ministry of Health and Jonathan Chu Seng Kuan, the company's Account Executive Officer.
