Those who had been unhappy and desperately restless over long delays and miscommunication when it comes to realising their dream of owning a government house during their lifetime, can now breath a sigh of relief as a one-of-a-kind e-Government project has come to their rescue.

The Housing Development Department has conducted e-SIKAP project - a Housing Development Information System under e-Government projects.

A three-million-dollar contract was signed yesterday for a period of one year for a project in an effort to integrate information digitally and enable members of the public to communicate through the Housing Development Department website.

It also aims to update application data, an application process until the time of paying back the housing loan process for the Housing Scheme, conducted by the Housing Development Department.

Needless to say public members who had numerous complaints regarding inordinate delays and suffering utter frustration being unable to know even the status of their applications will be much rewarded as all of it will be so easy to find out now. They will also be able to update application data and numerous other much needed services.

The signing of the contract between His Majesty's Government and HAD Technologies for the project, was held yesterday. Signing on behalf of His Majesty's Government was the Director of Housing Development Awang Hj Mat Salleh bin Hj Matusin and representing HAD Technologies was its Chief Executive Officer, Hj Awang bin Hj Mohamad Daud.

On hand to witness the signing was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development, Awang Hj Brahim bin Haj Ismail. The project was expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2007.
