The BSP consultancy team conducted an independent progress assessment on the e-Government project for the Ministry of Communications, based on the company's extensive experience with the computerisation of work processes.
The Brunei Government facilitator team was headed by Awg Hj Ahmad bin Hj Abd Raham, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
The resulting evaluation encompasses the technical, commercial and organisational aspects of the program in its cost analyses and examination of government objectives and strategies.
It also suggests recommendations for improvements to the first five-year phase of the e-Government project, which commenced in 2001.
The contents of the confidential report from BSP will be considered in the design of e-Government plans for the next five years. The Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awang Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong received the report from Dr Grahaeme Henderson, managing director of BSP, at an official handover ceremony yesterday.

Brunei's e-Government project, which is only the first step towards the advancement of the information and communication infrastructure within the nation, aims to establish reliable means of communicating information via an electronic governance system.
The project was given a $950 million budget in the 8th National Development Plan, and kicked into action with the approval of the e-Government Strategic Framework, 2001-2005.
The treasury, accounting and finance information system project, deployed and supported by BAG Networks Sendirian Berhad, led the way towards providing efficient IT-based services in financial processing and administration.
This was followed by the PMOnet application project for the Prime Minister's Office.
