Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Ismail Pg Hj Mohamed, yesterday officiated the signing ceremony of the AntiCorruption Bureau's e-Government project, "Integrated Corruption Information System (I-COINS)" at the bureau's headquarters in Old Airport, Berakas.

During the event, the permanent secretary, who is also the Chairman of the e-Government Program Executive Committee (EGPEC), witnessed the signing betweenACB and Shinba Integrated Engineering Services, the contractor for the project.

Signing on behalf of His Majesty's government was ACB Acting Director Pg Kasmirhan Pg Hj Tahir, while Managing Director of Shinba Integrated Engineering Services, Ak Sharifful Bahri PSI Pg Hj Ismail, signed on behalf of the company.

The I-COINS is one of ACB's 'IS/IT strategic plans and also one of the Prime Minister's Office's e-Government project initiative that serves to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the bureau functions and operations.

In an interview with the bureau's Senior Assistant Director, Abg Hj Kifrawi OKSPD Abg Hj Abu Hanifah, he disclosed the project, that costs around $2.9 million, will be executed sometime next month and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Amongst the advantages of the project is that it uses a very integrated system where one such benefit is that the bureau will be able to go online with government departments that they cooperate with and it is hoped that this will expedite everything they need to deal with.

It-is also hoped that the new system will save time as all dealings with the government can be done online, which is more practical than going to the respective government departments which is more time consuming.

The system, he added will also provide online information for the public in seeking advice on preventative measures of any occurrence of corruption as well as to provide information, hence lessening physical contacts.
