The Ministry of Religious Affairs continued its roadshow to promote the e-Islam Information Kiosks at an event held yesterday at the Ground Floor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam's Library in Tungku Link.

The university's library is the second government premises chosen for the kiosks after the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in the capital. Among the government premises chosen for the promotion are the Brunei International Airport and the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Jalan Menteri Besar.

The ceremony began with the recitation of al-Fatihah, followed by welcoming remarks by Haji Abu Bakar bin Mohd Don, Acting Assistant Director of Administration at the Ministry of Religious Affairs/Chief of Information Technology, as the Chairperson of the event.

On hand to present the kiosks to the location's representative was Hajah Zasia binti Sirin, Director of Islamic Dakwah Centre at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The roadshow, among others, aims to enhance and disseminate information on the daily lifestyles among the Muslim community in the Sultanate including activities related to mosque affairs, Islamic propagation, Haj and many others using the easy and innovative ICT format.

Apart from being able disseminate information on Islam quickly and effectively, the kiosks also aim to enhance the Islamic knowledge of the users as well as to expose them to the ICT usage in the dissemination of Islamic knowledge.

The roadshow will continue to be held in strategic locations focusing on the Electronic Information Kiosk whereby users can access relevant information on Islam.

The kiosks have so far been strategically located in eight locations, including the two state's mosques, namely, Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in the capital and Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kg Kiarong, as well as in major mosques in Brunei-Muara district, namely, Mohammed Bolkiah Mosque in Kg Serusop, Al-Ameerah AlHajjah Maryam Mosque in Kg Jerudong, Sultan SharifAli Mosque in Kg Sengkurong, Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque in Lambak and Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara. The kiosk was also placed at RIPAS Hospital.

The kiosk will also be located at other public places, namely, Yayasan Shopping Complex in the capital and The Mall in Gadong.

The content of the kiosks will include information on the services offered by the departments of Ministry of Religious Affairs including e-government project, Islamic Religious Council and the ministry's official website as well as useful general information like the Muslim burial, among others.
