Mepa yesterday unveiled a new and upgraded map server on its website.

Through this tool, one can see details about every application, every enforcement notice, planning constraints data, environmental and scheduling data regarding any area in Malta and Gozo.

The web server has been given additional power and its photos are far more clear. There are, of course, different levels how one can access the immense amount of data on the Mepa server. One can register with eGovernment and thus gain access to data not normally available to the public, although the NGOs and architects have a higher level of access. One can access the map server at www.mepa.org.mt and find out all the details as explained above.

At a future stage, access will be widened to the media to receive the case officer report on any application, the CHAC notes etc that many times constitute the basis for the Mepa decision.

The server adds some important advice to people who maybe would be accessing it for the first time:

For optimum viewing, follow the following steps:

  • Disable pop-up blocker
  • Add to list of trusted sites
  • Allow cookies

It is also important when selecting/unselecting the layers one wants to display, to click on refresh in order to effect changes.
