7600 students, who had registered for the mGovernment services, and who sat for SEC, MATSEC and foreign Universities' exams, received their results directly on their mobile phones by sms. This new service is the third of its kind which is being offered by mGovernment. Some time ago a sms service started being provided for law courts employees including lawyers, giving information about court cases deferments. Another service by sms was that offered to business license holders whereby subscribers were reminded of the date for renewing their license.
The mGovernment project forms part of the Ministry for Information Technology and Investment's eGovernment. Speaking about this latest service, Minister Austin Gatt stressed that this service protects confidentiality of information released.
mGovernment is a Government initiative with the collaboration of Vodafone Malta and Go Mobile.
