VAT-registered persons can now receive an SMS or email reminder when their tax returns are due, following the launch of a pilot project by the VAT Department on Tuesday.
People are asked to register for the service, which is free of charge, through the VAT Department website www.vat.gov.mt.
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said that more personalised services would be considered in the future, while the current service sends generic messages which do not contain any personal information.
Mr Fenech expressed government’s desire to see increased usage of e-government services, which would improve efficiency and allow people to access services in the comfort of their own home.
