Transforming Government since 2001
e-ID introduced to provide better personalized online government services

The myGov.mt portal has been brushed up to include better accessibility to further e-Government services. Minister Austin Gatt and Parliamentary Secretary Tonio Fenech gave out details about the new services at a press conference on Monday morning.

They remarked that the portal aims to improve the quality of life of the Maltese citizens and business through the provision of more e-Government services that are more accessible and secure. The project is also aiming to improve the performance of the public services and to enhance our democracy by increasing citizen participation in government decision-making.

It was also pointed out that the myGov.mt shall be also enabling businesses to settle VAT issues from the comfort of their home after a major security upgrade to the government's online services. Citizens and businesses alike will be able to access all of government's internet services in a secure and integrated way.

The speakers also explained that a unique e-ID shall give the individual user the possibility to own a trustworthy identity for all online services. When a user identifies one's identity with the Registration Authority (RA) and after a username, password, PIN or a PKI Digital Certificate has been issued, all e-Government services can consequently accessed.
