Government has on Thursday launched two new services of eGovernment, whereby applications for children's allowance and supplementary allowances can be submitted online.

The services, which were launched during a press conference by Minister for Investments, Industry and IT Austin Gatt and Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity Dolores Cristina, can be accessed at www.beneficcjisocjali.gov.mt.

Minister Gatt announced that the government would soon be issuing an enabling tender to gather around 45 new services that will be launched in the coming months.

The Minister for Investments, Industry and IT also pointed out that the government has managed to provide the majority of its services online, while the EU certified the quality of those services by placing Malta second amongst the member states for the provision of e-services.

On her part, Minister Cristina said that the services are intended to make the life of the clients who make use of them easier. Moreover, the services will mean that clients can obtain what they need not only more comfortably, but also more efficiently.

The Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity also said that over 60,000 persons can make use of the two services that were being launched, as around 32,000 persons benefit for children's allowance while another 30,000 persons are entitled to supplementary benefits.
