The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has launched a new advanced internet service providing practitioners and members of the public with a secure and simple way to register new companies and file company documents online.

The introduction of the new online services is in line with the requirements of the EU law on electronic submission of information and with Malta's e-government strategy. The MFSA will also be adding other online services in the near future.

Speaking during the launch, Parliamentary Secretary Tonio Fenech said that the new online system shows government's commitment towards providing businesses, professionals and the public with administrative services of the highest calibre.

In his speech, Tonio Fenech also referred to the growth taking place particularly in the financial services sector. The growth, the Parliamentary Secretary said, is not just a reflection of other work in which the MFSA is involved, but also an excellent illustration of the contribution which the industry as a whole is making to Malta's economy.

The new services are expected to increase efficiency of the online system both for the users and for the MFSA Registry of Companies, thus resulting in the provision of a better service to the public in general.

Among others, the new online system will cater for electronic filling of documents, electronic payments for new company registration and annual returns, and for a free company name check. Users will also be able to obtain their own electronic signature and submit electronically signed documents.
