Transforming Government since 2001

Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to strengthen government services in both countries through the exchange of experience and expertise, particularly in new technology.

Indonesian Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said the initiative follows last week’s meeting between the two governments.

"The key point of today's cooperation with the UAE is strengthening government capacity in adopting or adapting to new technology," Patria stated after the Indonesia–UAE Government Experience Exchange Retreat in Jakarta on Monday.

The cooperation covers five areas: innovation, competitiveness enhancement, government proficiency and performance, service improvement, and technology adoption.

One concrete program is the training of 10 million coders in Indonesia over the next three years.

"This is a cross-ministerial collaboration facilitated by the UAE to exchange experience, ideas, and improve government performance in adopting technology," Patria explained.

Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange of the UAE Abdulla Nasser Lootah said the 10 million coders initiative is the largest program currently being implemented by his government.

He noted that the program aims to equip Indonesian youth with skills in software development, coding, programming, and artificial intelligence.

On September 12, President Prabowo Subianto visited the UAE and met with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
