Indonesia state-owned operator Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) plans to expand its focus on government customers this year, The Jakarta Post reports, citing Telkom’s director for enterprises and business service Muhammad Awaluddin. “Telkom will expand its focus on its enterprise and business services not only on large companies and small to medium enterprises, but also on government agencies as the current administration has a very strong focus on information, communications and technology”, Awaluddin said. Telkom will mainly focus on the development of e-governance, e-health, e-education, e-logistics and e-procurement, he added.

Under the administration of President Joko Widodo, the government has started implementing e-systems at all levels of administration. With its revamped focus on government clients, Telkom’s enterprise and business service is expected to generate 11 percent of the group’s targeted revenues this year of IDR 100 trillion (approximately USD 7.8 million), Awaluddin also said. From the total targeted revenues, 58 percent would be from enterprise clients, 22 percent from government clients and the remaining 20 percent from small and medium enterprises, he added.

Telkom’s enterprise and business services accounted for 10 percent of the group’s revenues of IDR 89.7 trillion in 2014, with reduced contributions from government clients.

The operator’s enterprise and business services provide IT services ranging from networks to applications. Services for government clients this year will cover the marine and fishery sectors, in line with the government’s vision to make the country a global maritime axis. Telkom previously announced it would increase investment in its enterprise and business services from IDR 600 billion - IDR 700 billion in 2014 to IDR 800 billion this year. Of the overall IDR 800 billion, around IDR 200 billion will go towards the development of broadband infrastructure and services in 18 ports across the archipelago, including those in Banda Aceh, Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Kuala Tanjung (North Sumatra), Dumai (Riau) and Padang (West Sumatra).

Telkom plans to reach a total of 24 broadband ports by en-2015. Awaluddin said that each port would be broadband ready, fiber optic-enabled and Wi-Fi connected, with support for maritime logistics applications.
