Through this transaction, Telkom aims to develop InsureNet, an Indonesian insurance shared services platform, for the national e-health program. The platform is an online collaboration and transaction network that aims to enhance effectiveness, productivity and quality of services provided by insurers.
"This acquisition is a strategic acquisition for Telkom associated with the InsureNet initiative, especially for the medical insurance sector, starting from IT infrastructure to support e-health and then the entire insurance national e-claim system," said Rinaldi Firmansyah, chief executive of Telkom, in a statement.
Admedika is the market leader in health care networks with 1.2 million members. A total of 26 insurance companies, 717 hospitals, clinics and medical centers are its customers. Five state-owned insurance companies -- Taspen, Jamsostek, Askes, Jasa Raharja and Asabri -- joined InsureNet, according to Telkom. Telkom said InsureNet is looking to create synergy between state insurance companies and health service providers. In Indonesia, Admedika introduced an online claims processing system and third-party administrator services for its members, insurers and health services providers.
