An event held on 2 August 2011 in Bucharest marked the completion of the project 'Braşov City Hall just a click away' ('Primăria Braşov la un click distanţă', in Romanian). The initiative enables Braşov citizens to use a range of public eServices.

Three components of the project have been offered to citizens and businesses since 4 August 2011: a call centre system; web portal services and electronic payment. Braşov citizens are able to pay local taxes, rent, fees, fines, documents issuance fees and other fees for services provided by City Hall online by credit card on a 24-hour basis. Citizens can submit online documentation for permits and certificates, as well as check the progress of applications submitted to City Hall. The call centre is available to citizens on a 24/7 basis and automatically responds to the first 20 simultaneous phone calls by citizens.

Valerian Vreme, the Minister for Communications and Information Society (MCSI), MCSI State Secretary Marius Constantin Fecioru and Braşov mayor George Scripcaru were present to observe the occasion concluding the project's implementation.

Mr Vreme said that he was pleased more public institutions wish to communicate online with citizens and that Braşov is among those communities that can provide such services. He added that every attempt must be made to minimise the effort of citizens when interacting directly with officials.

The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) based on the funding agreement signed with MCSI for the Sectoral Operational Programme for Growing Economic Competitiveness, Priority Axis III: 'Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for private and public sectors'.

The total project value was RON 2.1 million (approx. € 493 000), of which RON 1.7 million (approx. € 400 000) was covered by a financial assistance grant. The project was implemented in Braşov over a period of 24 months.
