Romania and Austria plan to cooperate more tightly in the field of efficient electronic administration, starting off in this respect the procedures for the signing of an agreement of cooperation at governmental level, the Ministry of Communications and Information Society (MCSI) reports.

Following the visit paid by president Traian Basescu to Austria on March 23, a governmental delegation headed by Minister of Communications and Information Society, Gabriel Sandu, went on Thursday to Vienna for the initiation of the steps for the materialization of the agreements reached at presidential level. Gabriel Sandu and Austrian State secretary Josef Ostermayer started the process of the urgent signing of a Cooperation Agreement at governmental level.

The memorandum that will be signed most likely in the upcoming weeks will have three parts, the first one establishing the general framework of cooperation and the identification of concrete issues of joint interests. The second part will refer to strategies and services of e -government and the third will identify the possibilities of accessing European funds in partnership, as well as concrete ways of achieving software parks. Austria has already similar cooperation with Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Germany.

Based on the assessments of the European Commission, Austria holds at present the first place as regards the field of electronic administration e -Government. 'In Austria within the administration we replaced the traditional procedures of chancellery by electronic communication and by the exchange of electronic documents, said state secretary Josef Ostermayer.
