Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse will officially open the e-Government Center of Excellence for the nation on Thursday, the Daily News reported.

The Center, the first of its kind in the country, is born out of a true public private partnership between the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration and Millennium InformationTechnologies. The establishment of the e-Government Center of Excellence is akey milestone in the 'e-Sri Lanka' roadmap and in Sri Lanka's journey towards enabling efficient, effective and transparent governance.

The Center will showcase best practice in e-governance, successful strategies and solutions from around the world, raise awareness and build the capacity of public sector to make e-Government a reality.

It will also demonstrate the enormous potential of public private partnerships in the area of e-Government, the paper said.
