President's Secretary Lalith Weerathunga says that the Budget for next year has allocated more funds for the continuous expansion of the Information Technology Sector. Accordingly, a Nena Sala IT Centre will be established in every Grama Seva Division. The secretary participating in a ceremony in Colombo today, further said that new Nena Sala Centres will be set up in 14,000 Grama Seva Divisions.

The Budget has reserved a sum of one billion rupees in this connection. The ceremony was held to unveil the E-services of the Employees Trust Fund. The newly opened service will pave the way for the members of the ETF to receive information pertaining to the members' balance in the ETF through Internet and SMS.

Mr. Weerathunga further said that Sri Lanka's Information Technology literacy has now increased to 50 percent. Even the International community has expressed its astonishment over Sri Lanka achieving such tremendous progress within a relatively short period.

IT is directly attributed to the development of the country. He also said that the President has prepared development plans till the year 2020. Chairman of the Employees Trust Fund, K M A Godawatta says that the overall funds of the ETF have now exceeded 180 billion rupees. The ETF has made Investments in the form of Treasury Bills and in the Share Market as well.
