ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Re-Engineering Government Programme Director Wasantha Deshapriya said that implementing the e-Government policy island-wide fully would immensely contribute to making every citizen’s life very comfortable.

Speaking at a workshop, Mr. Deshaepriya attested that an insight into the e-Government policy and improvement of leadership qualities and team spirit contributed greatly to implementing the e-Government policy successfully. Therefore, with the linking of the North of Sri Lanka will bridge the communication gap between the North and South, he said.

"The workshops that ICTA has organised provide an opportunity for the participants to be equipped with these qualities. The interactive presentations and teamwork games included in the workshops aim at making all participants fully equipped to implement this cabinet-approved policy most successfully", Mr. Deshapriya said.

In addition to Mr.Deshapriya, ICTA Human Resource Development Programme Head Nalini Senasekera and Public Administration Ministry Senior Assistant Secretary and Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) K. A. Wimalendrarajah also made presentations at the workshops.

From these presentations, the participants gained an understanding of the e-Sri Lanka initiative, ICTA and ICTA’s e-Government Innovation Project in general. They were given a detailed exposure on the e-Government policy and strategies for implementing it. CIO Wimalendrarajah’s presentation on

"The role of CIOs in implementing the e-Government policy" brought out several specific examples of implementing the e-Government policy in more practical terms.

More than 100 Government officers including District and Divisional Secretaries and CIOs and other administrative officers including Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu Districts and Divisions in these three Districts participated in the ‘e-Government policy’ workshop.
