Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially launched the Electronic Physical Planning Permit Processing System (EPPPS). This digital platform simplifies how residents obtain building permits. On Thursday, Mr. Kehinde Osinaike, General Manager of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), announced the rollout. The initiative modernizes urban planning and accelerates approval timelines for construction projects.
Digital Transformation in Urban Planning
The new EPPPS allows developers, investors, and homeowners to submit and track permit applications online. Consequently, stakeholders can process paperwork from any location. This change eliminates the need for frequent physical visits to government offices. Furthermore, the transition should curb delays usually linked to manual filing and paper-based administration.
Osinaike emphasized that the platform enhances transparency and accountability. Because the system digitizes the workflow, the state can strictly monitor building developments for safety compliance. Moreover, the system provides a clear digital trail. This makes physical planning more efficient for both the government and the public.
Building a Smart City for a Growing Population
The general manager noted that this platform reflects the administration’s commitment to tech-driven governance. As Lagos expands, the government focuses on building a “smart” system to meet rising demands. By adopting these tools, the state fosters a business-friendly environment for real estate investment.
Osinaike urged residents and professional developers to embrace the online portal. Ultimately, this move helps the state integrate modern technology into every public service.
