Transforming Government since 2001

Abuja is set for a major transformation as the Federal Capital Territory Administration advances its Smart City Vision to boost innovation, job creation, and digital growth. Minister Nyesom Wike unveiled the initiative at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Dubai, positioning Abuja as a model for sustainable and tech-driven urban development.

The Smart City project integrates mobility, sustainability, security, and digital governance under one coordinated plan. Key partnerships include a Smart Water Metering project with JICA, Chinese-supported intelligent traffic systems, and the Abuja Industrial Park, all designed to enhance efficiency and attract private investment.

Wike explained that the initiative prioritises economic empowerment through tech-enabled services, job matching, and support for startups. The Abuja Enterprise Agency and a new National Employment Database will drive youth inclusion in the digital economy.

According to the Minister, the Smart City Vision is not just about infrastructure but about people. It aims to create a safer, greener, and more connected capital city that delivers opportunity, innovation, and prosperity for every resident.
