The Lagos State Government says it will ensure the delivery of the Lagos Resident Card, commonly called LAG-ID cards, to the homes of the residents more reliably.

The LAG-ID card is a smart card\xa0 introduced in July 2022 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to allow residents to access state services seamlessly.

At the launch of the LAG-ID card on July 20, 2022, Sanwo explained that ‘‘The new LAG-ID Card is a multi-application smartcard that offers registered residents access to services ranging from ‘a means of personal security and identity verification’ at points of accessing various government services, to applying for loans from Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.”

On Wednesday, the\xa0 General Manager, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, restated the government’s commitment to delivering the cards to residents.

She pledged that the agency would expedite efforts to deliver the cards to residents who had personal reasons not to have gone to pick them up.

Adebiyi-Abiola stated this while receiving two motorcycles donated to the agency by Max.NG at the agency’s office in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

She said the donated items would, among other factors, contribute to efficient service delivery and help resolve other logistics issues for the residents of the state.

Adebiyi-Abiola noted, “It can never come at a better time than this when the agency needs to move fast with the distribution of LAG-ID cards to the homes of some residents who could not pick up their cards due to unforeseen circumstances. With the presentation of these durable motorcycles, the agency is assured of speed, safety, and reliability.”

Adebiyi-Abiola reiterated her support to ensure that the agency attained its objectives through partnership and collaboration with various individuals and organisations until all residents are captured in the database and receive their LAG-ID cards.

During the introduction of the card, the GM had earlier said it demonstrated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the attainment of the smart city vision to integrate technology into the daily lives and interactions of citizens with government and public services.
