To engender workers well-being and higher productivity, over 6000 workers in all cadres in the Ondo State public service have participated in various local, national and international training programees.

Governor Olusegun Agagu said in Akure yesterday that 18 of the workers in the management cadre were trained overseas last year.

The governor pointed out that over N300m was expended on the training programmees in the last four years while another N220m has been earmarked for the same purpose in this year’s budget.

Dr Agagu added that staff emoluments were paid when due, pledging that the administration will continue the trend this year as N16b is being proposed as personal emolument.

On pensioners, he pointed out that they were adequately catered for by the government as N1.4 b was expended for the settlement of their gratuities and pensions last year while N1.6b is to be paid them this year.

He said the government would this year begin the implementation of the new contributory pension’s scheme earlier passed into law by lawmakers in the state.

Agagu said the government's dream of a responsive, dedicated and efficient public service will be realised soon. He said with the intervention programmes, there has been improvement in the public service.

The governor said that to consolidate on the achievement recorded in the area of Information and Communication Technology ICT, the state government has se aside N220m in this year’s budget for the implementation of the various e-government projects and activities.
