Oyo State Government has set aside over N168 million for the immediate commencement of a massive information technology project.

The project, when completed, would complement government’s efforts towards laying a solid foundation for E-governance in the State.

Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Risikat Oyebimpe Alabi who disclosed in Ibadan, explained that the project would cover capacity building that will cost over N24 million, procurement of computer hardware costing over N34 million, while the procurement and installation of V-SAT would gulp over N44 million.

The information technology project,she also stated would cover public service networking which is expected to cost over N49 million with all the accessories gulping over N15 million..

The procurement and installation of V-SAT,Alabi noted, would ensure internet-based services to various ministries and agencies, while the public service networking would take care of government- employee interaction as well as government- government interaction for improved productivity.

She further explained that the idea behind the project was to facilitate effective and efficient government service delivery to the people.
