The Director-General in charge of Due Process and e-governance Bureau, Mr. Dimieari Von Kemedi stated this during the commencement of a seven-day computer training programme for civil servants in the state.
Mr. Kemedi pointed out that building the capacity of a state’s workforce is necessary tool to addressing existing individual and institutional gaps with a view to assessing performance problems that may be related to knowledge, skills and attitudes.
Accordingly, he further pointed out, the computer literacy skill course for civil servants in the state is part of an on-going process with the desired objecive to inspire greater commitment.
The Director-General, therefore urged the participants to take the training serious, since according to him as “a civil servant you are a key plank on which the success of the e-governance will be assessed”.
Also speaking the State Head of Service, Dr. Marsh Ebimogham said the training programme was geared towards ensuring effective networking among the various units in the ministries, departments and agencies.
For this to be effective, Dr. Ebimoghan said civil servants must be equipped with schemes, strategies and skills for building channels of information and innovative ideas.
He explained that by this process it would be possible to imbibe the principles of BYSSEKVICOM being the operational organ charged with the responsibility to implement service delivery initiative of the government reform agenda.
About 16,000 civil servants are expected to undergo the training which will be in batches.
