The new service will allow approved foresters and forestry companies to track online the processing of Forestry applications that have been submitted to the Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The service is an extension of the IFORIS computer system, which was developed for the Forest Service for the processing of forestry pre-approval, grant and premium applications. IFORIS also includes digital mapping of grant-aided forestry already planted.
Launching the new service, Minister of State Killeen commented, ‘the service is the first phase of a planned development for IFORIS Internet. The second phase will enable foresters and forestry companies to submit pre-approval applications online on behalf of their clients. This will streamline administration issues for foresters and the Forest Service'.
The Minister of State and Clare T.D. added, ‘The provision of online access to IFORIS for approved foresters via the Internet is one of the eGovernment initiatives being undertaken by the Department as part of its current IT Strategy, and underpins its commitment to the delivery of improved online services'.
Using IFORIS Internet, foresters will now be able to determine the status of their clients' pre-approval and first grant applications under various forestry schemes online at any time.
The schemes available for viewing are Afforestation, Forest Environment Protection Scheme (FEPS), Native Woodland Establishment and Forest Roads.
