The service enables both clients and non-clients, whether individual or corporate and including both public and private to pay their taxes and customs dues through the bank's network of 70 branches spread across Egypt.
Nevine Loutfy, Managing Director and CEO of NBD, said, "The bank provides the e-Government payment service for taxes and customs in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to all individuals and entities. The new service helps boosting the national economy by facilitating the payment process for customers of both taxes and customs, through decentralising tax collection."
The e-Government payment service means customers are not obliged topay at their registered tax office. Additionally, payment is available throughout the bank's working hours. Payments are directly transferred to the customers' account at the customs and tax authority at the same moment that clients complete their electronic payments.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) acquired a major stake (49 per cent) in NBD in 2007. Together with ADIB, NBD is moving towards becoming a fully Islamic Shari'a compliant bank. Currently, NBD has over 2000 employees, 70 branches and 62 ATMs across Egypt and a 24/7 call centre.
