Egypt’s IT industry body ITIDA has announced the launch of its new Egyptian e-Signature Competence Centre. The centre is described as the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, and is designed to provide support and services to countries in the region looking to set up e-government and digital identity initiatives.

The facility is manned by skilled software and information security engineers, and strives to develop partnerships via innovative software solutions, thorough data analysis and support and consultation.

“The new centre is a new milestone for Egypt as it represents that knowledge we are keen to share with our partners in the Gulf region,” said Eng Yasser ElKady, CEO, ITIDA.

“The centre will greatly help in creating and sustaining digital identity as well as implementing nation-scale projects that require the public key infrastructure. I am truly proud of the centre, its certified workforce, the scope of projects it has carried out and the ones that we anticipate.”

ITIDA is responsible for attracting direct foreign investment in the ICT sector and promoting the country’s IT companies abroad. A number of Egyptian IT companies will exhibit at GITEX with the assistance of ITIDA. These include Cairo Software Services, EgyptNetwork, NSE Group, Hiteknofal, HITS, Inotek Systems, IT-Blocks, IT Synergy and ITWorx Egypt.
