Bank Muscat , the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, has redefined benchmark for mobile banking service with the award-winning mBanking widening its network to over 235,000 tech-savvy customers across the Sultanate. Tariq Atiq, Asst General Manager -- Cards & eBanking, said: " Bank Muscat strategy to provide banking services via mobile phones complements the government's efforts in creating a digital society and providing electronic services which spell convenience to customers.

Developments linked to e-Government in Oman is the motivation behind our innovative initiatives.

For the second time, Bank Muscat recently won the Best Public eService award in the coveted Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-Government 2014.

Soon after its launch in 2012, mBanking won the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-Government in the category of the Best Public Mobile Service.

The bank is also the winner of the 'Best Mobile Payment Application in the Middle East' award.

Bank Muscat's state-of-the-art mobile banking application redefines banking with the concept of 'anytime, anywhere' service.

With mBanking, Bank Muscat has made banking truly mobile for the largest banking family in Oman who can bank 24/7 'anytime, anywhere'.Notably, the mBanking application works on most of the mobile phones and is customised for iPhones, Blackberry, Android and Java based phones with simple icons and menus.

The mBanking application is available in both English and Arabic.

Customers can avail mBanking services such as fund transfers to other banks in Oman, account balance enquiries and transaction details, utility bill payment, speed transfer to India, request for issue of cheque book, credit card statement, currency exchange rates enquiry etc.

Further adding convenience, Bank Muscat recently enhanced mBanking transaction limit to help customers execute bigger transactions and reduce their dependency on branches.

The mBanking transaction limit for transfer of funds to other banks within Oman has been increased from RO 500 to RO 2,500 a day.

The limit for transfer of funds within own accounts is now RO 7,500 a day compared to RO 5,000 earlier.

Transfer of funds within Bank Muscat accounts has increased from RO 2,500 to RO 5,000 while utility bill payments limit has been increased from RO 1,000 to RO 2,500 a day.

The limit of speed transfer to India has also increased from RO 500 to RO 2,500 a day.

The mBanking has attracted a large number of customers as it does away with the requirement to visit the bank or wait in queues at branches for various transactions.

Driven by the latest technological features and offering a wide range of options, mBanking presents a unique facility from Bank Muscat that lets customers bank at convenience from 'anywhere, anytime'. For people constantly on the move, mBanking service is a boon. The mBanking application is available free of cost and the only cost that applies to customers is the network usage levied by telecom service providers.

The mBanking is user friendly. The interface is very simple and all that customers need to do is just follow the instructions to make a transaction. The mBanking can be accessed from any location supported by the telecom service provider and is highly secure as the application does not store any sensitive information or transaction logs on the phone.

Robust security features have been built into the application. The mBanking is a 'trusted' application. Data exchange from this application is encrypted based on best industry standards and dual factor authentication.

The mBanking registration is allowed only on the mobile number registered with the bank. In case customers need to update the mobile number registered with the bank, they can contact the Call Center on 24795555 or submit a written application to the bank for the same.
