Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, has redefined benchmark for mobile banking service with the award-winning mBanking widening its network to over 235,000 tech-savvy customers across the sultanate.

Tariq Atiq, asst general manager - cards & eBanking, said, “Bank Muscat’s strategy to provide banking services via mobile phones complements the government's efforts in creating a digital society and providing electronic services which spell convenience to customers. Developments linked to e-Government in Oman is the motivation behind our innovative initiatives.

“Bank Muscat enjoys an edge in hi-tech products and services, including electronic payment and web-based services, in tune with the banking requirements of a young, tech-savvy generation.”

For the second time, Bank Muscat recently won the Best Public eService award in the coveted Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-Government 2014. Soon after its launch in 2012, mBanking won the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-Government in the category of the Best Public Mobile Service. The bank is also the winner of the ‘Best Mobile Payment Application in the Middle East’ award.

Bank Muscat’s state-of-the-art mobile banking application redefines banking with the concept of ‘anytime, anywhere’ service. With mBanking, Bank Muscat has made banking truly mobile for the largest banking family in Oman who can bank 24/7 ‘anytime, anywhere’. Notably, the mBanking application works on most of the mobile phones and is customised for iPhones, Blackberry, Android and Java based phones with simple icons and menus. The mBanking application is available in both English and Arabic.

Customers can avail mBanking services such as fund transfers to other banks in Oman, account balance enquiries and transaction details, utility bill payment, speed transfer to India, request for issue of cheque book, credit card statement, currency exchange rates enquiry etc. Bank Muscat recently enhanced mBanking transaction limit from RO500 to RO2,500 a day to help customers execute bigger transactions and reduce their dependency on branches. The limit for transfer of funds within own accounts is now RO7,500 a day compared to RO5,000 earlier.
