The Technical Committee of the Standardisation and Sharing of Identity Card Data among different departments of the government, held a meeting on Wednesday where they discussed the institutions’ readiness of service units of the government that will be connected by using ID cards in the first stage of the project, in addition to urging other government units to improve their services quality to be connected in the second phase of the project.

This project is considered to be an integral part of the e-government programme of the Sultanate’s administration which will reduce efforts and time spent in going back several times to the institutions in order to complete transactions.

The committee held its meeting under the chair of Dr Khalifa Bin Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Royal Oman Police (ROP), Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Civil Services, the Public Authority for Manpower Register (PAMR), and the Information Technology Authority (ITA).
