Additionally, the in-app buildings and establishment option gives users access to information about the location of various public and service establishments like hospitals, schools, health centres and police stations, etc. Dr Khalifa al Barwani, CEO, NCSI, said, “We have also redesigned our website and, aside from TV and radio, and also stepped into the social media arena; having opened pages platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. In addition to the GIS app, we have also designed and launched eight other smartphone Apps that provide users with statistical information about Oman and allows them to stay connected to NCSI through their smartphones and tablets”.
In line with the eGovernment Transformation Plan, Muscat Municipality (MM) launched a package of new eServices at the e.oman stage at the Comex2014 Exhibition, with the presence of Mohsen bin Mohammed al Shaikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality and Dr Salim al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA. The package includes services like transactions services via ecertification, leases contracts’ services, municipal licenses’ services, employment services, ePrinting services, and suppliers’ registration services. The MM eServices includes: Muscat Commercial Guide, Building Permit, Minor Permit, Parking Permissions and Violations, Rent Contracts, and Construction Permit.
The GIS eService includes the interactive map of the Governorate of Muscat; explore Muscat, buildings application and many more details that benefit the relevant authorities and institutions, as well as the tourists. The municipal participates every year to provide the new updates and eServices for the visitor and to exchange expertise with the other government institutions to benefit from their progress in the egovernment field.
