The pact was signed on the sidelines of Comex and is expected to be of great help to the local labour market, according to authorities.
The collaboration comes as part of the ITA’s e-governance transformation plan that looks at accelerating and automating internal processes and procedures of government agencies to provide better services to end users and greater operational and procedural efficiency.
ITA chief executive officer Salim Al Ruzaiqi said: “As we seek to push forward the Digital Oman national strategy, this strategic and timely collaboration with IDA International signifies a key step towards achieving the key pillar of our eGovernment transformation plan. We believe this partnership will pave the way for future cooperation between the Information and Communication Infrastructure (ICT) industries of Oman and Singapore in the long run.” IDA International CEO Vincent Wong said: “As the public workforce in Oman becomes tech savvy, it is imperative that smarter ways of work are adopted to enable more effective delivery of government services. Singapore and Oman share a common vision in bringing about greater value creation for the country and our people through innovative public sector ICT.”
The deal should see IDA International providing consultancy services to transform and streamline the visa clearance processes for the ministry to deliver more customer-centric public services to the labour market.
Manpower ministry under secretary HE Hamed Bin Khamis Al Aamri said: “The collaboration will empower us to work behind the scenes to bring about greater convenience for our various stakeholders.”
The agreement was signed by Al Amri, Al Ruzaiqi and IDA group director Tan Lark Yang in the presence of Singapore senior minister of state for home and foreign affairs Masagos Zulkifli.
