Premier Wen Jiabao urged State officials yesterday to build a more efficient, transparent and honest government.
Wen said at a meeting on government management reform and e-government at the National School of Administration in Beijing. To promote management reforms, governments should make four changes, Wen said.
First, they should give more power to enterprises, social organizations and agencies to improve resource distribution and efficiency.
Second, governments should accelerate reform of administrative reviews and approvals.
Third, they should focus on providing services to the public, improving people's education, health and cultural life.
Fourth, governments should embrace the concept of sustainable development and balance development needs with environmental protection.
