Of the CIOs and IT managers that participated in the survey, 81% were from mid-size organisations, showing that larger enterprises are more interested in supporting and deploying remote access infrastructure to manage the effective and secure flow of critical data within the enterprise.
When asked what is the main reason why their enterprises opt not to deploy secure access platform, a huge percentage (about 67%) of the respondents said their main concern is that it will incur additional IT cost, suggesting that an affordable, yet reliable, remote access infrastructure are key factors in their decision making.
“The survey results clearly show that IT-decision makers in the government sector are keen on supporting the Government’s various initiatives in providing a balance and healthy lifestyle for the civil servants. This can be achieved by helping them deploy secure access solutions in line with their keen interest in implementing workforce mobility strategy,” said Louie Wong, Regional Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, Citrix Systems.
The survey was conducted by Citrix Systems with CIOs and IT managers of government agencies attending the recent e-Government Summit 2006 in Hong Kong. The independent poll was conducted to determine IT executives’ views regarding implementing workforce mobility strategy in their agencies in relations to HKSAR Government’s current scheme of enforcing a '5-Day work week' schedule for civil servants. The survey was also aimed at determining both government offices’ and Hong Kong enterprises’ support on the Government’s 'Blue Sky Action' anti-pollution campaign, by encouraging companies to adopt home office working environment.
