E-government in Germany requires urgent action, as the country continues to lag others, according to the annual report from the national regulatory control council, the Normenkontrollrat. The report said digitisation of the public administration still needs significant work, especially in terms of linking the many different public registers and sources of information.
It called for work in the next legislature on the online access law and offered its own proposals in the report for improving services to citizens and businesses. The report underlined also the need for follow-through on the implementation of plans, tight management and close cooperation between the federal, state and local governments.
