Held in the Ministry of Public Works headquarter, the meeting was attended by Dr. Emir Mavani, the Federal e-Government Programme Director at MoFI, and Mr. Ahmed Bin Ghannam, eGov Programme Manager in Etisalats one-stop e-powerhouse business unit eCompany which is the technical partner of Federal e-government for all the ICT needs of the project. A detailed explanation was submitted by Dr. Mavani about the initiatives already undertaken and the forthcoming steps in future. He asserted that the project is on track and ahead of schedule. The first phase of the project was planned to be undertaken in 3-4 months, but it took only 9 weeks thanks to the comprehensive efforts from MoFI and eCompany.
He pointed that the system, which is in line with the initiatives of the federal e-government will offer 15 electronic services. The Ministry of Public Works and other ministries are expected to start using 2 services in October-December, and the other services will follow later.
In the meeting H.E Ibrahim Abdel Malek highlighted the need to coordinate the efforts of the executive project teams, all the ministries and federal parties in order to have an effective implementation of this system to benefit all the stakeholders. He said This system will help simplify the process of tracking various federal projects thereby helping the ministries to track their projects more intensively. It will also enable suppliers and contractors to update projects data and information, because the system will connect the ministries and federal parties in retrieving all reports and information through central data system, he added.
He complimented the efforts of MOFI and eCompany in supporting the e-government project stressing that this requires the most cutting-edge technologies which offer high efficiency in saving efforts, costs and enhancing accuracy.
The meeting was organized to discuss various approaches towards tackling the execution of electronic projects system. This project is significant because it will save the efforts of all parties related to the federal infrastructure projects application. According to the MOFI team, the implementation of such system is necessary in order to support the goal of having all the processes in the country connect effectively with the eGovernment system in order to enhance performance and services while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
