The Dubai Development Board launched a new website, a spokeman for the board announced yesterday. The site aims to keep pace with new technologies and offer customers the convenience to all procedures and information about the board, without physically being present.

Supporting the government's efforts to make everyone familiar with electronic processing, this site simplifies the board's services for tenants, landlords, contractors and consultants.

This service can be accessed through computers and mobile phones supporting Java J2ME standards.

The website is designed with clearly bifurcated sections making it easier to access and use. Tenants can now book new apartments in constructed or under-constructed properties, report problems, renew tenancy contracts or transfers and have access to emergency numbers and procedures online.

The site also has a special section for consulting companies, contractors and suppliers permits registration of companies, updating information as well as participation in tenders.

Another section which caters to landlords and property owners allow them to review financial status and vital information of their projects. Users can also view the board's project plans with all necessary information.

Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Director General of Development Board, said: "This new site will make things much easier. It is packed with all important information about the board, its activities, future plans and the services offered."

The Development Board is the first government department to deploy the SSO (Single Sign On) system in co-operation with Dubai e-government.

"This enables the customer to log in to the Development Board site (www.dubaidb.gov.ae) and use the same information to log into any Dubai e-government site," Al Matrooshi said.

This goes a long way in proving the board's commitment to its customers, he said.

Al Matrooshi said customers now have access to any kind of information about the board, complete transactions and related formalities without visiting the board premises.
