The Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has warned typing centres across the country against the commercial use of the e-form service as it is illegal.

The Eida recently launched the experimental e-form on its website for UAE nationals. It saves Dh30 for the online applicants who otherwise will have to shell out for the registering at the typing centres.

“As a typing centre, you are legally accountable and bound to follow the typing centre registration process and procedures. If you attempt to avail this online service for typing centre/commercial use, you will be bound to strict fines and legal charges,” Eida warned.

The authority urged the local residents not share their login details with other individuals. The account-holder will be responsible for applications created/modified through their online accounts. If the account is intended for typing centre use, then it is mandatory to immediately send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Dr Ali Al Khouri, Director-General of Eida, said the online application and renewal services for expatriates will be made available in the coming two months.

This means that the e-form, available under the category of e-services online forms on the Eida website — www.eida.gov.ae/en/home.aspx — for UAE nationals currently, would be available for residents in two months.

The fees for filling out an e-form via the Eida’s website are collected through the customer’s credit card. After opening an electronic account, the customer would be able to fill out an ID card form for himself/herself or for others using a username and a password.

“Every person is allowed to fill out only 20 forms per day in order to prevent the service from being abused for illegal commercial purposes,” Dr Al Khouri said. The e-form is being used extensively by the establishments and companies, which have more than 100 workers, due to the fact that it saves time and money, he said.

The current e-form contains many mandatory data but it is working on reducing the required data so as to be completed by the competent authorities in charge of civil incidents in the UAE after the electronic linkage between the Eida and government entities have been activated.

Call centre

The Eida has started test operation of the new call centre, which is scheduled to be officially commissioned in February, as part of its ongoing efforts to provide the best services to its customers.

The new call centre will allow customers to track their transactions, enquire about all types of ID card-related procedures and file complaints on 600530003, Dr Al Khouri said.

He pointed out that the new centre started receiving around 600 phone calls per day during the current test operation stage to see how the service was going and be familiar with the impressions of customers and the major challenges they faced.

The new centre will provide such services as interactive voice response, automated call distribution, call recording, multimedia routing (SMS, email and text chat) and automatic and manual call control.
