The setting up of a new body that would address the needs and requirements of the e-government in Dubai is a welcome step.
The Dubai e-government will accordingly devise the general strategy, provide leadership and guide and supervise the progress of the e-module at all government levels.
The new decision is crucial as it aims to achieve a number of important goals.
First, it would ensure that all government entities are on equal footing in terms of having streamlined all their internal workings electronically.
Second, it would also ensure that all government entities, regardless of their customer base, are on par when it comes to the quality of what they are offering to the public.
But more importantly, a unified platform for the e-government would ensure that it runs hand in hand with the e-government plans on the federal level.
This would not only ensure efficiency, but transparency as well.
