Transforming Government since 2001
The Tayseer service offered by the Department of Economic Development (DED) has generated a tremendous response from the Department's clients, with more than 180 enquiries being received via Short Message Service (SMS) in the last four months.

Tayseer was launched earlier this year in a joint initiative between the DED and Dubai e-Government and enables DED clients to send specific enquiries to the Department and receive instantaneous responses via SMS. The two services currently being offered by the DED include enquiry about the status of the trade licence transaction and enquiry about fines that have accumulated on a trade licence.

The DED confirmed that it had received 130 SMS enquiries regarding the status of transaction of trade licences, while 52 SMS enquiries had been related to enquiries about the fees accrued on licences.

'The Department is always on the lookout for ways to ease business registration procedures and create an investor-friendly environment in Dubai,' said Mr. Sultan Lootah, IT Director, DED.

'This service enables clients to enquire about the status of their trade licence transactions or the fines accrued on the licences by the simple method of sending an SMS to a dedicated number. The success of the service has helped to reduce people throughput at the DED office while at the same time enabling our officials to focus on more complicated issues regarding business registration procedures,' he added.

Clients, wishing to enquire about the status of their transaction can do so by sending an SMS message containing the word 'DEDTRN' followed by the trade license number, to the dedicated number (4488). The system will generate an instantaneous response to the enquiry via SMS after assessing the state of the transaction.

In order to enquire about fines on a licence, an SMS message containing the word 'DEDFIN' followed by the trade license number may be sent to the same number to generate an instantaneous response.
