Participation for this year's eGovernment Excellence Award 2015 has seen a 13 per cent increase compared to last year, it was announced yesterday.

This was revealed after the award jury committee evaluated 230 participations from the three sectors of the award: 'Government Sector', 'Multi Sectors' (Which includes governmental, private entities, and NGOs) and 'Individuals'.

The jury committee consists of seven experts, from Bahrain and abroad, with experience in IT, telecom and eGovernment.

The committee is chaired by Technology Institute, Denmark chief consultant and Brunel University, UK senior consultant Jeremy Millard.

The committee compiled a report on all projects, so that participants can avail the committee's remarks to develop their works, and increase their competitiveness and their chances of winning in future competitions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa will honour the winners during the opening ceremony of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015, which will be held on March 15, at the Isa Cultural Centre, with wide attendance from Bahrain and abroad.

This year's eGovernment Excellence Award covers Government sector, including four categories: Best eService, eParticipation, award of best eProject, and award of best eContent; Multi sectors, including four categories: award of best application for smart devices, award of entrepreneurs, award of eEconomy, and award of eNGO; individuals, including two categories: award of best eConcept, and award of eCitizen.

The award of eCitizen was granted based on citizens with highest numbers of online transactions and financial value as transacted through eGovernment portal over one year.
