Bahrain-based company Technologies and Consulting Group - Middle East (TCG-ME) won the World Summit Award (WSA) for the best product in the e-government category, at the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society, held last month in Geneva.

TCG-ME won the award for their product - Bahrain Commerce Ministry Portal for Electronic Services. TCG-ME were chosen for the award by WSA Grand Jury of experts, from 36 countries, who met in Dubai last October to evaluate over 800 products which had been nominated from 130 countries.

"I would like to congratulate the Commerce Ministry for its vision to be the leading eCommerce governmental global entity and to ensure the continuation of an open, transparent and market driven commercial environment so as to develop Bahrain's economic competitiveness, and to encourage inward investment," said TCG-ME chairman and chief executive officer Dr Nazar Al Baharna.

TCG-ME has been involved in the design, development and implementation of the Commercial Registration System which is a multi-tier application server catering to 1,800 diverse lines of business at the Commerce Ministry.

TCG-ME has also designed, developed and implemented the e-Commerce portal: www.commerce.gov.bh.

"At TCG-ME, we strive to be the leading Information Technology Solutions provider in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Middle East," said TCG-ME executive vice-president Ahmed Al Baharna.

"We believe that in order to provide best of the breed solutions that meet high standards and achieve customer satisfaction, we have to compete with the best and continue to sharpen our skills and upgrade our knowledge."

Over the next two years the product will be showcased around the world in the WSA Road Show events, which shall take place worldwide.
