THE Capital Governorate's new expanded website listing information for residents, visitors and investors was officially launched yesterday.

The new website features contact details and other information for hospitals, hotels, banks, tourist attractions and other important sites all over Bahrain. The site, which is part of the kingdom's nationwide e-government project, also has links to other government bodies.

Governor Shaikh Humood bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said a dedicated team will be working on the website to make sure the information is up-to-date.

"This is a comprehensive website listing all the information that visitors to Bahrain, and even residents, need," he said.

"It will also include information for investors, such as how to apply for commercial registrations (CRs).

Bahrain Centre for Studies and Research research programmes assistant secretary-general Dr Abdulla Alsadiq said the website will allow people to get information about Bahrain before they even come here in order to better prepare for their trip.

The website, said Shaikh Humood, is part of the governorate's plan to become totally paperless in about two years time.

"Everything at our offices will be done electronically. There will be no place for employees who can't use computers. Our training programmes have been modified to reflect this," he said.

The site also lists Bahrain laws, shopping areas, youth clubs, societies, museums and other information.

The website was designed by Bucheeri Group. The address is www. capital.gov.bh.
