In its commitment to spreading awareness and building an information society, Director of the Human and Financial Resources Directorate at eGovernment Authority, Mr. Fahad Isa AlQadhi announced the launch of new version of the National Training Program (Qudurat) in a strategic partnership with Microsoft and Bahrain Islamic Bank.

Citizens can avail this program and earn a Microsoft-accredited certificate. Over the successful implementation in the previous period, the program has helped train more than 13,000 citizens on computer skills for free.

AlQadhi confirmed the Authority’s keenness to equip and prepare all sectors to avail services and projects provided by the eGovernment, including its efforts to improve citizens’ e-knowledge and skills and to enhance their capabilities in relation to egovernment, based on an annual target of 5,000 citizens, males and females, within the framework of its national strategy 2016.

“This initiative will help to establish an information society, abreast with new developments in the field of technology. We are confident that putting such knowledge into optimal use will come through such training programs which help improve individuals’ skills and learning if they already have the basics. Likewise, it can boost professional performance for their institutions if they enroll in the advanced level of Qudurat, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.” AlQadhi added.

For this year, the program has been offered through three training institutes, namely: Bahrain Institute for Technology, Training Plus Institute, and Think Smart Institute, which were awarded the public tender announced earlier by the eGovernment Authority. According to the signed agreements, execution of the program by the three institutions will take place throughout 2014 and 2015. During this period, citizens of both genders, will be the target beneficiaries, where they receive 20 training hours for either the basic or advanced level.

The basic level handles training on computer basics such as the use of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, online applications, in addition to training on the use of eGovernment portal to carry out government transactions online. The advanced level provides training on online communication programs (such as creating an email account), the use of social media (instagram, twitter, etc) on smart phones, maintaining computer security and privacy, in addition to an extensive training on the use of eservices offered by ministries and government entities via the national portal.

Trainees will receive the debit “eCard” offered by Bahrain Islamic Bank, which is credited with a specific amount of money. It aims at training participants on payment services offered on bahrain.bh for free.

Qudurat program is part of the national strategic goals of the eGovernment for 2016, aiming to bridge the digital divide through training and developing citizens capabilities to stay tuned with emerging changes and developments in the area of technology, whether related to execution of business and transactions through computers or to the use of the eGovernment’s national portal and services.

Citizens interested in registering in this program can obtain information about courses, timings, and venues by contacting the National Call Center (80008001), or via bahrain.bh. All citizens can benefit from the set of courses provided by Qudurat training program.
