President of the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Amer affirmed Bahrain's pioneering and distinguished international status in this respect, pointing out the big strides made in providing public services electronically.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a visit paid today by an international delegation representing fifteen countries to CIO to avail of Bahrain's electronic experience and get updated on the organisation's experiences in the field of public services.

The visit was organised by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority so as to get informed about the Information Technology (IT) and communication infrastructure systems and projects in many government bodies providing services for individuals and investors.

The CIO President presented the delegation with a brief account about the organisation's projects and services, including the Smart ID Card project which was launched in 2004 in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He added that the government bodies are working harmoniously to achieve Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 which aims to streamline all government procedures and ensure their accessibility to all in order to lure investments and create more job opportunities by providing a promising investment climate based on sustainability and competitiveness.
