The Authority announced the first-of-its-kind cooperation with Zain through the eServices packages on the eGovernment portal (www.bahrain.bh).
Zain subscribers can benefit from a wide range of services such as viewing and/or paying their bills, or recharging their balance, a statement from an official said.
“The inauguration of these online services is derived from Zain’s keen concern to reap benefits from partnership initiatives with the private sector in order to provide optimal and large-scale services - as per the current practices which guarantee to provide high-quality services as a common practice used for Zain customers,” said Zain Bahrain’s general manager Mohammed Zainalabedin.
Mohammad Ali Al Qaed, eGA’s chief executive, said: “This partnership came about as an outcome of a direct interaction with the public, and upon their request to pay phone bills online through the eGovernment portal.”
“The Authority is very keen to provide and optimise effective, high-quality and comprehensive services for the community; it also aims to increase opportunities for partnerships with the private sector, improve cooperation between institutions and achieve better results.”
“This is the first partnership of its kind in the telecommunication field. Such initiative reflects government directions in this regard with the purpose of promoting further innovations and entrepreneurship for the benefit of all concerned parties,” he said.
“This initiative fall under the eGovernment’s future plans, where citizens and residents can pay their monthly bills through one electronic page, with the coming portal revamp and integration of all services in the (eKey) system, which was launched by HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the deputy Prime Minister, the chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology during the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012.”
The eKey is the first system of its kind in the region that provides three levels of security including password, smart card, and fingerprint for identity verification and enables users to use an integrated eKey to access government services offered through all available channels, Al Qaed said.
