A new Education Ministry e-service has been launched on the e-Government National Portal. The e-service registration for continuous education programmes was launched in co-operation with the e-Government Authority.

It offers registration for the language programmes provided by the ministry through its community services and continuous education departments.

This form of education is becoming increasingly important, especially today when common practices and skills can become obsolete at a fast rate," said the ministry's assistant under-secretary for planning and information Zaher Mohammed Saeed.

"Continuous education is now a key means of broadening skills to access better employment and career development opportunities.

"It is also considered a significant contributing factor to economic sustainability and growth - a prime objective of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030," Mr Saeed said.

The service allows citizens and residents to browse through the courses and register for any of them easily by visiting the e-Government Portal www.bahrain.bh.

Registration can also be done through the ministry's website www.moe.gov.bh.

The courses offer English, French, Russian and Arabic classes to non-native speakers.

Understanding

They also aim to develop a basic understanding of foreign languages for easier communication between cultures.

In case of non-Bahrainis, only those with valid residency in Bahrain can register. The ministry has launched eight e-services on the national portal website, which offers 108 government e-services to citizens, residents, visitors and businesses. The website is set to feature 200 services by 2010-end.
