The Bahrain Post, in co-operation with the e-Government Authority (e-GA) has launched the Mailbox Renewal e-Service for individuals and businesses through the country's national portal database.

It follows the introduction of the successful e-service earlier this year enabling the tracking of postal packages.

The Mailbox Renewal e-Service simplifies the process and makes it more convenient for those who wish to renew their mailboxes, while at the same time easing the workload of Bahrain Post staff and enabling better efficiency at post offices.

"Our offices manually process approximately 29,000 renewal transactions each year, which places a burden on our staff and affects our service delivery and overall responsiveness," said Bahrain Post assistant under-secretary Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

"However, with this new e-service, the annual mailbox rental fee of BD15 can be renewed online with complete ease."

Such e-services will make the economy even more competitive and business-friendly, in line with the goals and objectives of the Bahrain Vision 2030, added Shaikh Bader.

The e-GA had recently undertaken a project to increase the capacity of the national portal tenfold.

This has not only improved the browsing speed for visitors, but is also sufficient to accommodate increasing demand for the 76 e-services now operational. The portal will also be able to handle the 200 e-services planned to go live by the end of 2010.
